Luke 20:9-19 - The Lord’s Urgent Appeal
At Lord & Savior Ev. Lutheran Church this coming Sunday, April 7th, Pastor David Carlovsky will preach on the Gospel lesson for that Sunday, Luke 20:9-19. This is commonly called the Parable of the Tenants. The parable illustrates that in spite of God's patience in dealing with His people, they remain rebellious. The tenants of the vineyard in this parable treat those sent by the owner of the vineyard in a most shameful way. To those who have already shown themselves to be so cruel... the father sends his son. We see God's Son pictured in the heir who was killed. This parable--this urgent appeal--so angered Jesus' enemies that they "looked for a way to arrest him immediately.”
The sermon theme will be: "THE LORD'S URGENT APPEAL”
I. Not to despise His Word; and
II. Not to reject His love
John 13:31-35 - Love One Another
The congregation’s sixth and final Lenten service will be held on Wednesday, April 10th. The theme continues to be "Three Words of Truth." The Sisters in Christ are serving the Lenten supper. Pastor Robert Meiselwitz, from St. Paul, Round Lake Park, will preach on a theme of "LOVE ONE ANOTHER” (John 13:31-35).
Zechariah 9:9-10 - Rejoice to See Your King!
The following Sunday, April 14th, is Palm Sunday. The service will feature the school children (K-8) singing that day. Pastor Carlovsky will preach on the Old Testament lesson, Zechariah 9:9-10. The focal point of the day is the coming of our Palm Sunday King, who brings joy to Jerusalem and all the people as he establishes his kingdom — with a message of peace between God and man. Palm Sunday is a day that brings to mind the exuberance of the people. Pastor Carlovsky’s sermon that day will highlight the first word of the text: “Rejoice!”
The sermon theme will be: "REJOICE TO SEE YOUR KING!”
I. in the way He comes! and
II. in the message He brings!
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday
