Sermon Series on Psalm 8 and Psalm 51

Psalm 8 - "Lord, How Majestic is Your Name!"

This week (July 26/29th) at Lord and Savior Ev. Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Pastor David Carlovsky will speak on Psalm 8 — a psalm that helps us see that our life is overflowing with our Lord's blessings.  It's a psalm that causes us to shout:  "Lord, how majestic is Your name!” (which is the sermon theme). The sermon will address four thoughts about who/what declare His name:

       I. The heavens declare it!

      II. The earth declares it!

     III. Little children declare it!

     IV. Your Son proves it!

Psalm 51 - "Holy Spirit, Create Me New!"

The following week (August 2nd/ 5th), services will highlight Psalm 51 (especially verses 10-12). This Psalm was written by King David as a confession and an appeal, after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba, and murdered her husband! Pastor Carlovsky’s sermon will speak of the excuses, complaints, and evasion that we often use to avoid facing our own sins. But in Psalm 51, King David admits “against you, you only have I sinned” and asks God to “create in me a clean heart, O God.”  The sermon theme will be "HOLY SPIRIT, CREATE ME NEW!”

   I. You're starting with nothing...

II. ...but You've made me a child of God!
